Each year the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church organizes Family FunFest for its members and the community. This annual event usually takes place on the last Sunday of September from 3 to 6 pm. The afterrnoon is filled with fun for all ages from little kids to adults. The event takes place on the church's premises at 4409 Pleasantview Drive, Arlington, TX 76017. A suggested donation is a can of food or a dollar per person for the local food pantry which helps those in need. If you forget your donation, don't worry, just join us for the fun anyway. Here are some pictures from previous Family FunFests (2008, 2009). The next Family FunFest will take place on September 26, 2010.
In 2009, the Eighth annual Family FunFest took place on September 27 from 3 to 6 pm. Specific activities included bounce houses for all ages, a rock-climbing wall, train rides, horse rides, a petting zoo, a clown show, and face painting. All kinds of foods, deserts and drinks were available in the Fellowship Hall.
The event also hosted a couple of puppet shows with Hands 2 Heaven directed by Judy Anthony-Castro and two concerts. This year we had two singing groups: The A'men Quartet and Karla & Friends, for two 30-minute concerts. A variety of booths invited people to sign up for different seminars and classes including Dollars & Sense, Divorce Care for Adults, Teens, and Kids, and other family-oriented opportunities for growth, development, and entertainment.
We also invited DIGIKIDS Child ID Program to be here during the Family FunFest hours for people to create IDs for their children. The DIGIKIDS Child ID Program delivers peace of mind with the most advanced and effective child safety ID available today. The first 20 minutes are the most critical in a lost or missing child emergency. You can be prepared to act immediately by keeping the DIGIKIDS CD with you at all times. The Church covers all of the expenses. Just show up and take advantage of this program.
During every Family FunFest we proudly sponsor a blood drive with Carter Blood Care. A mobile unit was here from 3 to 6 pm for people to give blood and help save someones life. Giving blood at least once a year is a great idea. Usually you bring your picture ID with you. For more questions for how to prepare for future blood donations please visit Carter Blood Care website.
Each year Frank Reed with KLTY 94.9, the most listened-to Christian radio station in the nation, is our special guest broadcasting live from our location during Family FunFest. He usually brings along lots of prizes and laughter. Be sure to come by and meet Frank at Family Funfest this year.
