ADDICTION AND THE FAMILY

  • Arlington Adventist Church 4409 Pleasantview Drive Arlington, TX, 76017 USA (map)

Addictions are not limited to things like alcohol or drugs. Pornography, technology, food, work, and even exercise are things around which we can have addictive behaviors. Even the pursuit of perfection can have an addictive element. These behaviors can have a profound impact on our lives. When a family member is experiencing a mental, behavioral or substance use disorder it can affect more than just the person in need of recovery. Parenting in the midst of any addiction within the family system can be particularly challenging.

You are invited to participate in a presentation on navigating the challenges, emotions, and recovery from all types of addiction that impact the family. The seminar will be presented by Michal Anne Whitcomb, MA, LPC & Doug Dougherty, M.Ed, LPC from The Dallas Counseling Group. Questions and dialogue will be welcome as we address these challenges together.

Join us for a free Italian lunch in the Arlington Adventist Church fellowship hall after the Mosaic service, followed by the seminar at 2:30 p.m., on October 8, 2022 in room 7. We hope to see you all there.

Registration is not required, but it would be helpful in our planning. Walk-ins are welcome. You can register using the form below.
