Revive Community Care

Younger Generation Church constantly aspires to make an impact on our surrounding community. One of our main goals is to share the love of Christ with others. The most hands- on way we do that is through Revive Community Care, the mission-focused ministry of Arling- ton Adventist Church.
YG first got involved in community service through homeless ministry. YGers would go out to Unity Park in Fort Worth immediately following our worship service. At first, the goal was to distribute food and hang out with the less fortunate. YG was really one of the first organizations to go and minister to them—there was not a lot of involvement from other non-profits. As the homeless ministry grew and more people got involved, YG was able to expand its impact on drives for clothing, socks, and toiletries.
Jeremy Barnes was one of the leaders of Revive Community Care. Previously, he was a leader of the homeless ministry at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. When he returned home to the Dallas-Fort Worth area after graduation, he wanted to get involved. “It was a natural fit,” he said. Jeremy dove right in.
Jeremy’s favorite memory was seeing how much Revive Community Care at Unity Park grew year after year. “At first, we were the only ones. But then other organizations started getting involved. You would see barbers, musicians, and people providing Bible studies serving alongside each other. It got to the point where we didn’t even need to bring food any- more—there was so much from other churches and nonprofits. A movement had begun.”
Today, these projects continue. Another way Revive makes a difference in people’s lives is through Operation Christmas Child, a project that has distributed 157 million gift-filled shoe- boxes to boys and girls around the world. Each holiday season, Operation Christmas Child provides a perfect opportunity for YGers to leave a significant mark on the world.
In 2018, YG collected over a hundred boxes for Operation Christmas Child, thanks to church involvement. Many of the boxes were shipped to places like Haiti, Ukraine, and Kenya.
Revive Community Care continues to minister to the local community and the world at large. Our team is in the process of establishing on site medical clinics and plans to eventually im- plement an auto shop and tutoring services.
If you want to make a difference, don’t doubt the impact you can have. Give us a call. Others will join you, and it can become a movement. Additionally, if our church can serve you, we’d love to welcome you!
