UG REFUGE HOME OUTREACH
UG YOUTH has set out to make an impact in the communities around us in a series of outreach projects. Each project at its core has the purpose to increase awareness in our student population of the need around them and learn to plan, design and execute projects that will fulfill specific needs. In the process, each outreach project will also serve as means to continue building student leaders and equip them with proper leadership skills and critical thinking skills.
The 'Mosaic Refuge Home' outreach is a continuation of last year's Christmas celebration project that will benefit victims of human trafficking who are currently living at the Mosaic Refuge Home in the Dallas area. According to the U.S. State Department, the National Human Trafficking Hotline receives more calls from Texas than any other state in the US. 15% of those calls are from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Between 14,500 and 17,500 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year.
