A Heart for Worship
If you are looking for the epitome of “Being Jesus, Being YG,” look no further than our favorite worship leader, Chris Doss.
"Chris is the epitome of ‘Being YG,’” says Allan Martin, YG Church teaching pastor. “If he will miss a worship service or event he makes sure to inform me well in advance. . . And should Chris win a Special Olympics medal or some other honor, he will give me the update.”
I asked Allan about a routine I see between them each week. He laughs and tells me, “During the worship set, Chris makes it a point to come over to put his arm over my shoulder and encourage me to sing along with him. . . Both of us are off key, but that really doesn’t matter.”
“There are times the details of the program will distract me, or I’m mulling over a part of my sermon,” reflects Martin. “I can always count on Chris to come over and give me a high-five, a hug, or the look to remind me to join in worship. He inspires me to be present, engaging Jesus in worship.”
