Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. PIVOT OUT OF THE RUT
Sometimes when we consider transformation, we find ourselves frozen, inept to change. How do we get unstuck? When we feel like we are in a rut, what should we do?
April Snyder, BS, is the associate chaplain at Southwestern Adventist University, organizing spiritual life and development for the campus. She is currently in a graduate dual masters program in divinity and public health. She enjoys traveling, making music, and participating in extreme sports. April and husband Blake recently celebrated their first anniversary.

Chrissy Gaban, BS, graduated from Union College with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, an emphasis in management, and a minor in computer information systems. She is now pursuing her MBA. While at Union, Chrissy served as CFO then Director for, The Well Worship, a young adult led discipleship experience for the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Michael Gibson, MDiv, is the teaching pastor for Elevate, the vibrant young adult ministry of the Keene Church. If you visit, it’s likely it won’t be long until you hear him say “Welcome home. There’s always room for one more." He also serves as an adjunct professor for Southwestern Adventist University’s Religion Department.
Dr. Tom Grove took some time with Pastor Michael during Arlington LIFE to learn more about his ministry and Elevate.
Ana Patterson, MBA, is special assistant to the President of Southwestern Adventist University, focusing on diversity and campus-wide initiatives. She serves as the faculty sponsor for Enactus, an international organization that connects student, academic, and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.
Ana is well acquainted with SWAU both as an alum and an assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration. In her new role as Special Assistant to the President, she is excited to join a team that is dedicated to making our campus a welcoming place for students from all walks of life, where they can grow in knowledge and faith. Patterson believes in the power of education and connectivity. She hopes to play a role in ensuring that students are receiving tools necessary to grow exponentially here at Southwestern Adventist University. "What I enjoy most about working at SWAU is the sense of community on campus,” she shares. “Year after year I am impressed by our student body, especially their desire to serve and willingness to lead." In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, and they particularly enjoy traveling together as well as most outdoor activities.

ARLINGTON CHURCH SUSPENDS IN-PERSON WORSHIP SERVICES
The Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has strongly recommended that all our local churches close in-person worship services and activities through at least the month of July. Recognizing the significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Tarrant County and throughout Texas, the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church will, effective immediately, also be suspending in-person worship services in collaboration and agreement with the advisement of our Texas Conference leadership.
We know this is a shift after being open for three weeks and ask for your patience with changes in the midst of this dynamic situation. The health and safety of our congregation and community are in the forefront of our minds. We are grateful for the ability to continue, through the blessing of technology, to worship together and minister to our community. Grace Thomas, MS, LMFT, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Reconnecting Relationships Therapy Group. Her passion is to empower couples and individuals to overcome personal obstacles by using underutilized strengths. Grace also emphasizes the importance of healthy communication, respect, boundaries, and flexibility in order to develop healthy relationships. She has past experience working with families, couples, individuals and adolescents from diverse backgrounds and various difficulties including: self-esteem, anxiety, parenting, infidelity/affair recovery, abuse, and family conflict.

Michal Anne Whitcomb, MA, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Dallas Counseling Group. Michal has a Master of Arts in Counseling and has been working with adults, children, teens, and families since 2008.
