Growing Young Assessment

A fellowship of love, acceptance, and forgiveness, committed to creating a grace-filled space for young people.

Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church recently celebrated six decades of ministry and the founders shared fondly their passion to build a church where next generations would thrive. Over the last seven years, we have made a special emphasis of this goal utilizing the Growing Young Wheel.

Here’s a concise report of the strides we have made in each of the six Growing Young commitments:

BE THE BEST NEIGHBOR:
Revive Community Care has grown exponentially since it’s inception, involving all generations in serving our neighbors throughout the DFW metroplex. Last year alone, Revive provided nearly 170,000 lbs. of food to over 7,400 families. Through Re-Store, over 5,400 articles of clothing were distributed. The Revive Vision Clinic saw 127 patients, and the inaugural dental clinic provided care to 15 patients.

UNLOCK KEYCHAIN LEADERSHIP:
Mentoring next generations in leadership is not only happening in YG and UG but throughout the entire church. In production, worship, Sabbath Schools, outreach, and preaching, teens and young adults are taking an active role in the life of our church. Younger elders and deacons are being ordained, and internship and residency collaborations with Texas Health Huguley, Southwestern Adventist University, and AdventHealth Southwest, are expanding our leadership development beyond our church walls.

EMPATHIZE WITH TODAY’S YOUNG PEOPLE:
Church leaders, pastors, and educators are helping our whole church relate empathically with next generations. Initiatives like the Creative Conference, Divorce Care, Full Life Conference, and Growing Together sermon series are examples of training to build stronger relationship skills in today’s cultural milieu.

TAKE JESUS’ MESSAGE SERIOUSLY:
Through every aspect of our church, we have dedicated ourselves to put Jesus as the center of who we are and what we do. Beyond sermons and services, Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church is committed to put Jesus first in all things.

FUEL WARM COMMUNITY:
Wild hospitality is a cultural focal point for church family in small and big ways. From sharing goldfish to Shindig to Secret Sisters to International Sabbath to Thanksgiving dinner with 250 family members, we want to express warmth, acceptance, and embrace to everyone.

PRIORITIZE YOUNG PEOPLE AND FAMILIES EVERYWHERE:
Every aspect of church life here at Arlington is curated with next generations in mind. From Messy Church to Mosaic service to Burton Adventist Academy to Underground to GODencounters Conference to Vacation Bible School, we are intentional about our children being at the very center of church life.
