BE A DOOR HOLDER AT PASSION 2027
In just a few short months, thousands of 18-25 year olds from across the country and around the world, will come together in Arlington, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia to lift up their voice and declare one name—Jesus.
We believe when we meet Jesus, our lives are changed forever; we receive life and we desire for others to receive it as well! If you are 25 years or over there's a way for you to be a part of Passion 2027—join us at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas as a Door Holder!
At Passion, we use the term “Door Holder” instead of the word “volunteer.” The term is borrowed from Psalm 84:10, which speaks of being a doorkeeper in the house of God:
“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
From those who are welcoming students and helping them find their seats, to those holding a physical door or helping a student purchase their first Bible, everyone who volunteers at Passion are considered Door Holders as we all share the same heartbeat—to open the door and make a way for others to experience Jesus. DEFINING DOOR HOLDER
We use the term “Door Holder” instead of the word “volunteer.” The term is borrowed from Psalm 84:10, which speaks of being a doorkeeper in the house of God:

than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” —Psalm 84:10
Door Holders at Younger Generation Church have been on the inside and have experienced God’s glory, and therefore consider it a privilege to stand on the outside and hold the doors for others to come in and experience Jesus. In fact, they would rather hold the door than be anywhere else because their heartbeat has shifted away from themselves and is set on preparing the way for others to have a powerful experience with Jesus.
At Younger Generation Church, all faithful contributors are considered Door Holders — not just those who literally hold physical doors! From those who are serving in the background, to those who provide consistent financial support, to those serving from the stage, we all share the same heartbeat to open the door for others to experience Jesus.
HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN IS HOW WE WORSHIP
At the core of being a Door Holder is faith in the One we are serving that shifts the focus off of us. It’s not really about our comfort, our experience, or even us getting any recognition or acknowledgement. No task is too small, and no ask is too big. As Door Holders, we place others’ needs and experiences above our own because we believe that God can use us as His instruments as we see others encounter Him. We are wired to worship Jesus, and serving others, especially next generations, is in our DNA.

MENTORING ELDERS MAKING WAVES
“Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.” —Denzel Washington
The principal architect of YG Worship, Karla Dechavez is one of the originators of @ygchurch who is forging its future. Her willingness to pour into young lives is making a difference in our vibrant young adult ministry, especially in the arenas of worship and the arts.
YG’s Mentoring Elder for Production and Media, Dr. Kisha Norris is one of the founders of Younger Generation Church who has professionally poured into young lives throughout her career. Now as the Vice President of Education for Southwestern Union Kisha’s influence continues to expand, however her dedication to mentoring next generations at YG has not wavered over the decades.
Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church Associate Head Elder, Bo Livingston, has ministered through Younger Generation Church for nearly two decades. Serving as YG’s Mentoring Elder for Hospitality and Welcome, she has not only fostered a warm community in our young adult ministry, but moreover has extended that hospitable embrace to the whole church. Founding Coffee & Connection is just one more example of her dedication to bridge and bond new relationships for the Kingdom.

Part of our mission is experiencing community together; We want to be a church family that is growing together instead of growing apart. We spent July giving emphasis to “We’re Growing Stuff.” In August, our Growing Together Adventure was centered around our whole church family enjoying worship and diving into GOD’s Word together.
