JANUARY 18, 2022 VOL.3 NO.3

LEGACY RENEWAL PROJECT
We’ve been in the middle of a construction zone at church for months now. Although it’s hard to tell at times, we’ve actually made quite a bit of progress! Thank you so much for your patience, but most of all, thank you for your support as we work our way through the details and the frustrations of the construction world.

Over the next several weeks as we finish out the project our goal is to post periodic updates so that you have a better idea of what has already happened, what you can expect from week to week, and how you can support the project to its completion. We’ll post progress pics and the occasional video walk-through with Mindy. So stay tuned! There’s more to come...and it’s going to be great when it’s all finished!

To read the updates, click here or on the picture above. You can support by giving to “Building Fund.”

INTERGENERATIONAL WORKPLACE SUCCESS // JANUARY 20 // 7:30PM
For the very first time there are 4 and occasionally 5 generations all working together and doing business together. Each generation comes with their own world view. The clash of expectations or what we view as social norms causes dysfunction and frustration. However, when we understand each other, this clash can become a creative collision that leads to greater innovation and better problem-solving. This presentation will equip you with better understanding of generational differences as well as similarities preparing you to successfully navigate the multi-generational world of work! 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

NIGHT AT THE MEYERSON // FEBRUARY 27, 6PM
Southwestern Adventist University’s (SWAU) 29th annual A Night at the Meyerson concert will be hosted on February 27, 2022, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas, Texas. The concert is the finale of Southwestern Adventist University’s Music Festival which brings talented high school musicians from across the United States together each spring for vigorous music education and performance. The music festival features a mass choir, symphony orchestra, and guest artists.

During the festival, the students learn a variety filled repertoire featuring musical masterworks in addition to new compositions. This marks the fifth year that the festival has partnered with a composer to write a commissioned piece to be premiered during the concert at the Meyerson. Following Ēriks Ešenvalds, Kim André Arnesen, Craig Courtney, and Dr. Brandon A. Boyd, this year’s festival will feature British composer, Philip Stopford, world renowned for his beautiful choral music. Stopford has an impressive musical background and a reputation as a fun, engaging and meticulous choir trainer.

The goal of this annual concert is to promote musical achievement among young musicians and provide scholarships that will enable students to thrive as they engage in music while pursuing their college degrees. This wonderful tradition continues because of the many sponsors that support this event; we are grateful for their generosity. This year, the university seeks to raise $100,000!

SWN: SO WHAT NOW?
If you are inspired by a song, a scripture, or a sermon in YG, we want to encourage you to take it to the next step.

James 1:22 shares, “Put the word into action. If you think hearing is what matters most, you are going to find you have been deceived.”

The Voice paraphrase includes this commentary about this passage in James:
”God the Father is the giver of all things and is looking for every opportunity to bless us. But many people have difficulty trusting and receiving good things, even when those things come from God. The problem is that we not only have trouble trusting God’s work in our lives, but we also don’t always respond to God’s voice. People often hear the Scriptures but don’t really listen. People store truths in their brains but never put them to use. For James, the only good religion is religion lived out every day.”

To support your next steps in acting on the Word of GOD, YG’s linktree features an array of take home and take action resources. Click the above icon or here to access YG’s linktree.

INSPIRE HOPE // SHARE GRACE

YG SHARK TANK!
ACCEPTING YOUR IDEA SUBMISSIONS NOW!

What’s your idea for sharing Jesus and His love? tiny.one/ygsharktank

YG Shark Tank is a creative evangelism project where students and young adults create, pitch, and execute innovative outreach ideas for sharing Jesus Christ and His love.

GUIDELINES

1. EVANGELISM ACTION:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly address one or more of the Six Actions of Evangelism: Love, Serve, Baptize, Equip, Plant, and Revitalize. https://tiny.one/evangelism

2. MISSION & VALUES:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly express the mission and values of Younger Generation Church: Intimacy, Community, Grace. https://tiny.one/YGmission

3. CREATED BY YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS:
The shark tank proposal can involve all ages, but needs to be created or collaboratively imagineered by a student or young adult. It is preferred that the proposal be led by a young person.

4. CONNECTED TO THE LOCAL CHURCH:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly connect people with Younger Generation Church [http://ygchurch.com] and/or Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church [http://arlingtonadventist.com] and/or Burton Adventist Academy [https://BurtonAcademy.org].

5. RESULTS REVIEWED:
The shark tank proposal needs to have a clearly defined timeframe. At the end of the project, a review/report of results needs to be presented, including what was learned through the experience.

6. GRANTS AWARDED:
The shark tank proposal doesn’t need to involve money. However, if money is needed, a clearly itemized budget needs to be developed to which @YGchurch will determine awarding grants up to $200/proposal. At the conclusion of the project, an expenditure report will need to be provided if grant monies are awarded.

7. CHRIST CENTERED:
The shark tank proposal needs to above all be modeled after Christ Jesus with a genuine heart of love, compassion, and empathy for people. “If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ.” —1John‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭CEV‬‬

GRATITUDE

THANK YOU FOR LEAN IN LUNCHEON!
“Hearing Mrs. Johnson’s story about how she wanted to be the best immediately, but knowing that her plans took time to get where she is today still gives many young people hope,” shared Amanda Davis, SWAU Biology major, and recent graduate from Burton Adventist Academy, “Even though we have big dreams and want to be there now, there are little things that you gain working your way slowly to the top and it will impact your life in a lot better way than we think it will.”

VOCATIONAL DISCIPLESHIP
When it comes to empowering the next generation, how do you value the difference between occupation and vocation? David Kinnaman and Roxanne Stone from the Barna Research Group, discuss with us the importance of discipling the generations in their vocation.
