JANUARY 25, 2022 VOL.3 NO.4

YG CREATIVE & WORSHIP DIRECTORS APPOINTED
Younger Generation Church is delighted to announce Michael and Princess Demiar have been appointed YG’s Creative and Worship Directors respectively. These Christ-following, dynamic siblings have been ministering in the DFW Metroplex with their various gifts for most of their lives, and YG is delighted to have them continue leading in our Church in this expanded capacity.

For nearly a decade Michael Demiar has served as assistant music director working with @ygchurch, @ugyouth, and Mosaic services. Recently appointed Creative Ministry Director for Younger Generation Church, he aims to develop and to enrich all facets of the worship experiences for YG Church from in-house to online. YG is tremendously blessed by his faithful ministry and passion for Jesus.

Over that same decade, Princess Demiar has served as assistant music director working with @ygchurch and mentoring @ugyouth. Recently appointed Worship Director for Younger Generation Church, she will be cultivating every aspect of worship — scheduling musicians, mentoring worship leaders, conducting vocal & band rehearsals, curating music setlists. @princessdemiar desires an authentic worship experience where we encounter a glimpse of heaven at YG. Her hope is for all to emerge from the worship experience wanting to know GOD more, committed to being Jesus beyond our four walls. #Jam4theLamb #BeJesus #BeYG

Join your worship with ours as we Biblically analyze our mission in light of the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” --Matthew 28:17-20 [Message]

LEWISVILLE CAMPUS SELECTED FOR GROWING TOGETHER COHORT
We are thrilled that our Lewisville Campus is among the churches in the Southwestern Union Conference appointed to participate in the Growing Together Cohort this year!

A transformation/training subsidiary of the Growing Young Adventists initiative Dr. Martin is coordinating for the North American Division, the Growing Together Cohort journey begins this February with a year-long digital experience alongside other local churches across the division. Together growing and learning six research-based core commitments, cohort churches will innovate relevant practices to implement intentionally in their context. Trained and supported by Adventist coaches, researchers, and practitioners, cohort churches reap the benefit of convenient training and ongoing mentoring throughout the learning journey.

A diverse team of Lewisville campus members, including Pastor Eugene Kitney will connect and engage the church in the cohort process as well as several of our YG young adults and young professionals. Here’s our delegates included in the Lewisville campus team:

Oddie Olazaran has recently been installed as the Campus Pastor for Burton Adventist Academy. Having extensive exprience in youth and young adult ministry, Oddie continues to focus on mentoring the next generation. He is soon finishing his MDiv with Andrews Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary with a concentration in Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Both he and his wife, Madeline, enjoy outdoor adventures such as rock climbing, backpacking, and hiking.

Gabrielle Harris is a licensed youth & young adult evangelist, motivational speaker, and an aspiring actress that currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas. Gabbie was born with Cerebral Palsy, however throughout the course of her life, she has faced many obstacles and challenges, but with God’s grace she has beat the odds, and has done almost everything she has set her mind to do.

Gabrielle enjoys being an advocate for people of all ages that have various disabilities. She believes that people with disabilities can conquer anything they put their mind to, she feels that people can be inspired by her story and the miracles that God has performed in her life, and for that she is ever so grateful to God. Gabrielle enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, shopping, she also enjoys meeting people in all walks of life, in her eyes no one is a stranger. She is always excited to tell others of the miracle and blessings God has bestowed upon her. She feels her purpose is to encourage young people and adults to love others, and to not give up, as we are all here for a purpose. Check out more details about Gabrielle at www.gabbieharris.com

Nick Snell is the pastor for everyone considered young at the Chapel Oaks Seventh-day Adventist Church in Shawnee Kansas. He is excited about empowering discipleship, heartfelt worship, creativity, and family. He was born and raised around Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan; He met his wife, Deanne, in August 2008 in his hometown after both of them had finished their student missions experiences. Life changing experiences include: Adventist education, Benton Harbor Street ministries, colporteuring, task-force student missions, church planting, worship leading, working with incredible leaders across the NAD and being married with three children whom he adores. NIGHT AT THE MEYERSON // FEBRUARY 27, 6PM
Southwestern Adventist University’s (SWAU) 29th annual A Night at the Meyerson concert will be hosted on February 27, 2022, at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in downtown Dallas, Texas. The concert is the finale of Southwestern Adventist University’s Music Festival which brings talented high school musicians from across the United States together each spring for vigorous music education and performance. The music festival features a mass choir, symphony orchestra, and guest artists.

During the festival, the students learn a variety filled repertoire featuring musical masterworks in addition to new compositions. This marks the fifth year that the festival has partnered with a composer to write a commissioned piece to be premiered during the concert at the Meyerson. Following Ēriks Ešenvalds, Kim André Arnesen, Craig Courtney, and Dr. Brandon A. Boyd, this year’s festival will feature British composer, Philip Stopford, world renowned for his beautiful choral music. Stopford has an impressive musical background and a reputation as a fun, engaging and meticulous choir trainer.

The goal of this annual concert is to promote musical achievement among young musicians and provide scholarships that will enable students to thrive as they engage in music while pursuing their college degrees. This wonderful tradition continues because of the many sponsors that support this event; we are grateful for their generosity. This year, the university seeks to raise $100,000!

SWN: SO WHAT NOW?
If you are inspired by a song, a scripture, or a sermon in YG, we want to encourage you to take it to the next step.

James 1:22 shares, “Put the word into action. If you think hearing is what matters most, you are going to find you have been deceived.”

The Voice paraphrase includes this commentary about this passage in James:
”God the Father is the giver of all things and is looking for every opportunity to bless us. But many people have difficulty trusting and receiving good things, even when those things come from God. The problem is that we not only have trouble trusting God’s work in our lives, but we also don’t always respond to God’s voice. People often hear the Scriptures but don’t really listen. People store truths in their brains but never put them to use. For James, the only good religion is religion lived out every day.”

LEGACY RENEWAL PROJECT
We’ve been in the middle of a construction zone at church for months now. Although it’s hard to tell at times, we’ve actually made quite a bit of progress! Thank you so much for your patience, but most of all, thank you for your support as we work our way through the details and the frustrations of the construction world.

Over the next several weeks as we finish out the project our goal is to post periodic updates so that you have a better idea of what has already happened, what you can expect from week to week, and how you can support the project to its completion. We’ll post progress pics and the occasional video walk-through with Mindy. So stay tuned! There’s more to come...and it’s going to be great when it’s all finished!

To read the updates, click here or on the picture above. You can support by giving to “Building Fund.”

YG SHARK TANK!
ACCEPTING YOUR IDEA SUBMISSIONS NOW!

What’s your idea for sharing Jesus and His love? tiny.one/ygsharktank

YG Shark Tank is a creative evangelism project where students and young adults create, pitch, and execute innovative outreach ideas for sharing Jesus Christ and His love.

GUIDELINES

1. EVANGELISM ACTION:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly address one or more of the Six Actions of Evangelism: Love, Serve, Baptize, Equip, Plant, and Revitalize. https://tiny.one/evangelism

2. MISSION & VALUES:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly express the mission and values of Younger Generation Church: Intimacy, Community, Grace. https://tiny.one/YGmission

3. CREATED BY YOUTH & YOUNG ADULTS:
The shark tank proposal can involve all ages, but needs to be created or collaboratively imagineered by a student or young adult. It is preferred that the proposal be led by a young person.

4. CONNECTED TO THE LOCAL CHURCH:
The shark tank proposal needs to clearly connect people with Younger Generation Church [http://ygchurch.com] and/or Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church [http://arlingtonadventist.com] and/or Burton Adventist Academy [https://BurtonAcademy.org].

5. RESULTS REVIEWED:
The shark tank proposal needs to have a clearly defined timeframe. At the end of the project, a review/report of results needs to be presented, including what was learned through the experience.

6. GRANTS AWARDED:
The shark tank proposal doesn’t need to involve money. However, if money is needed, a clearly itemized budget needs to be developed to which @YGchurch will determine awarding grants up to $200/proposal. At the conclusion of the project, an expenditure report will need to be provided if grant monies are awarded.

7. CHRIST CENTERED:
The shark tank proposal needs to above all be modeled after Christ Jesus with a genuine heart of love, compassion, and empathy for people. “If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ.” —1John‬ ‭2:6‬ ‭CEV‬‬
