Connect Ministries: Connect is an innovative ministry from Pacific Union College engaging others through leading praise and worship, providing inspiring speakers, offering special music for sacred concerts, hosting spiritual and social events for youth, and by coordinating service and outreach opportunities. As Christ’s disciples, they serve with spiritual authenticity, while promoting a valued relationship with Pacific Union College, and above all, a dynamic connection to our Creator.

Pastor Kent Rufo has been serving as Pacific Union College’s chaplain since January 2019. He moved his family from Illinois where he served as lead pastor in a Chicago suburb. He spent 7 years of his ministry as youth pastor at the magnificent Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church. During his 16 years of experience as a pastor, Rufo has served as lead, youth, and associate pastor, academy chaplain, Bible teacher, collegiate ministries director and now college chaplain. He also spent 2 years overseas as a missionary. Pastor Kent received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Adventist University in 2000 and then completed his MDiv at Andrews University in 2004. Rufo has experience leading prayer and Bible study groups, visitation, counseling, and outreach, among other ministry activities. He loves his family and his job! Many of you will remember Chaplain Kent from when he served as our youth pastor and BAA chaplain.

_______________
I AM SECOND 2021
Discover a new and different way of living. This is for people yearning to be known. It is for those who are weary from all their many efforts to feel significant.

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. –Ephesians 1:3-6 [Message]

“I am with you, always.” It’s such a a beautiful phrase and it is so relevant when it comes to building fundamentals because it describes a God who just wants to spend time with us and just be with us, just like a Best Friend would. Always.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” —Matthew 28:19-20 [NKJV]

“I’m Gabriel Molina and I am currently a senior at Burton Adventist Academy. I am the Student Association Religious Vice President for the high school. Some fun facts: My favorite sports are soccer and baseball, and I have been playing the violin for the past 15 years of my life. Looking forward to preaching for YG, my topic, Building Fundamentals.”

Gabe’s sermon, “Building Fundamentals,” leads into Burton’s Week of Prayer with Chaplain Kent Rufo. Pastor Kent has been serving at Pacific Union College [PUC] since January 2019. He moved his family from Illinois where he served as lead pastor in a Chicago suburb. He spent 7 years of his ministry as youth pastor with Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church. During his 16 years of experience as a pastor, Rufo has served as lead, youth, and associate pastor, academy chaplain, Bible teacher, collegiate ministries director and now college chaplain. He also spent two years overseas as a missionary.

Next weekend, October 29-31, will feature an array of events to which you and your family are invited to attend. Chaplain Rufo and CONNECT Ministries, a student group from PUC, will be hosting great inspirational programs for your students and your family, beginning with Friday evening Vespers, 6:00PM, at the UGYOUTH Room on the Arlington Church campus.
