ADVENT IN A BAG: A FAMILY EXPERIENCE
Often we think of Advent as the church season of waiting - because it feels like we have to wait so long for Christmas to get here. However, the word Advent actually means coming. We are getting ready to remember Jesus coming in the form of a baby, we are praying for more of God’s presence with us each day and we are waiting and preparing for Jesus to one day come again.
How do you celebrate Advent as a family?
Thanks to FORM Kids, one way is through a program we're calling "Advent in a Bag." This is a collection of interactive activities and devotions that intentionally include Jesus in your Christmas preparations and celebration. Be sure to pick up your family's bag from the church lobby and enjoy four weeks of Christmas related devotional activities with your family. Happy Advent!
If your child attends Burton Academy, we'll deliver a bag for your family to the school. If you can't make it to the church to get yours, let us know and we'll do our best to deliver one to you. We're excited to celebrate Jesus together this year!

DON'T WASTE YOUR GLO-UP
The Glo-Up is seen as the pinnacle of existence....but I have some questions about it. Are we limiting ourselves in our pursuit of it? What's mine supposed to look like? What do I do with it once I get it? In my talk I seek to redefine the Glo-Up and inspire people to not waste theirs!
Julian "Jewlz" Humphrey-Davis is a Tennessee native who now calls Texas home. Ever intrigued by new people, places, and perspectives, Jewlz seeks to learn more about himself and others everyday. As the current Student Development Specialist for the UTA Follet Student Leadership Center, Jewlz advises student organizations, though if you ask him, he’ll tell you “he makes students dreams come true”. He hopes to advocate for people to magnify their voice, actualize their purpose, and inspire others to do the same. PRAYER
Dear God,
Thank you for the community I have with other believers because of Jesus.
In Acts, I see that as the church met, ate, and praised, you brought growth. There was something about this kind of authentic community that attracted not only favor, but a desire to join in.
I need this community in my life.
I need to remember that you do not call me to follow you alone - you’ve called me to follow you in community.
In the name of Jesus,

Ashten and Trent Fleming invite us once again to have prepared bags to assist the homeless not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year. Although both men and women experience homelessness, women are at particular risk. Find below a checklist to help you assemble a bag or several bags to have available in your car.
The items listed are suggestions for what to place in the blessing bag. Customize your bag, knowing you can put more or less of the checklist items. If you don’t have a handbag or tote to use, you can always use gallon or quart size, clear, ziplock bags. Thanks for being the best neighbors!
