COMMISSIONING OF PASTOR ALLISON CASILLAS

Pastor Allison Casillas, who has served in ministry here at Arlington as well as at Dallas Christian Academy and Tulsa Adventist Academy, will be commissioned by the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists on Sabbath, January 30, during the Mosaic Service which begins at 12:00PM. Within our denominational practice, commissioning is the recognition of a female pastor’s call to the worldwide ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Join us as we celebrate this important ministry milestone for Pastor Allison and the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Allison Casillas, BS, is the associate pastor for children's discipleship at Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church. She is also co-host for Arlington LIFE, the pandemic-birthed weekly broadcast highlighting human interest and upcoming events for the Arlington Adventist faith community. Her husband is Pastor Peter Casillas, campus pastor for the Canyon Creek Project in Richardson, Texas.

This Adventist Young Professionals group will be reading and discussing the book "Knowledge of the Holy" by A.W. Tozer. We all have basic knowledge about God, but actually knowing Him personally is another matter entirely. Led by Kasondra Reel, this group is about moving from head knowledge to a heart relationship while digging into the different characteristics of God. How do you stay madly in love forever?
The Mad About Marriage Seminar is marriage education, not marriage counseling. Mike shares lots of stories – some from his own life – and lots of practical advice that you can really use. He also examines some of the issues that can derail marriages, drawing on current research and the expertise of a variety of scholars, authors, and psychologists to find solutions to the problems. There are some "big" issues that have a very destructive effect on marriage. Some of these issues are easily identified, but some of the most destructive may be present in marriages without couples recognizing their existence. Couples struggle along, trying unsuccessfully to create a positive relationship, not realizing why their efforts at marital bliss seem thwarted. It's important for the success of the marriage to identify and deal with negative issues. The presentations Sabbath morning are free and open to the public. God is on the move. Yes, things will fall apart, and yes, things will shut down, but our God cannot be stopped. And we don’t want to miss any part of that. His kingdom is coming. We want His will to be done on this earth as it is in heaven and our heart and prayer is that “on earth as it is in heaven” starts with us. And we would stop wondering if it is possible to change the world. It’s possible.
This year, at IF:Gathering 2021, we are going to talk about how we do that. The theme of those two days is going to be “Even If.” Even if the worst happens, we don’t lose hope. Come join us as we remember that together.

LEADERS GO FIRST
When it comes to vulnerability, leaders go first. In honesty, courage, and humility, Christ-followers testify of their need of Jesus. They “wear their heart on their sleeve” in honor of Christ.
Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn’t think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion. –Philippians 2:5-8 [Message]
