IN THE PRESENCE OF OUR ENEMIES // YG CHURCH // SATURDAY 10:15AM CST
The enemy is always on the prowl, seeking to fill our minds with destructive and harmful thoughts – fear, worry, insecurity, anxiety, and temptation to name a few. If you’ve ever thought – I’m not good enough, I’m not worthy enough, I’m not smart enough, then this series is for you.

1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. --Psalm 23

PURSUE GOD

Last week’s worship led by Pastor Allison Casillas, No Seat at the Table: GOD’s Invitation Always Stands

NO SEAT AT THE TABLE: GOD’S INVITATION ALWAYS STANDS
GOD's forgiveness is inclusive, now, and always stands.

4 But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
5 I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
7 Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
8 He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins. --Psalm 130:4-8

YG SPEAKER: PASTOR ALLISON CASILLAS
Having served for over half a decade as Family Life Pastor for Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church, Allison Casillas is now assuming the role of Executive Pastor for the Arlington family of campuses. Becoming part of our church at the age of 10, she has been vibrantly engaged with our local church for most of her life, and continues in that pastoral family heritage with her husband, Peter, serving as Campus Pastor for Canyon Creek Project, a space-making church plant in Richardson, Texas.

Prior to her pastoral ministry here, Pastor Allison served 13 years in Adventist education, including 6 years in administrative leadership as an academy principal. It’s not uncommon to find her exhibiting her love for DIY [Do It Yourself] projects in our church and at home. Allison also loves sports, reading, and gardening.

SWN: SO WHAT NOW?
If you are inspired by a song, a scripture, or a sermon in YG, we want to encourage you to take it to the next step.

James 1:22 shares, “Put the word into action. If you think hearing is what matters most, you are going to find you have been deceived.”

The Voice paraphrase includes this commentary about this passage in James:
”God the Father is the giver of all things and is looking for every opportunity to bless us. But many people have difficulty trusting and receiving good things, even when those things come from God. The problem is that we not only have trouble trusting God’s work in our lives, but we also don’t always respond to God’s voice. People often hear the Scriptures but don’t really listen. People store truths in their brains but never put them to use. For James, the only good religion is religion lived out every day.”

EXPERIENCE COMMUNITY

FIND SCRIPTURAL RELIEF FROM WORRY AND STRESS
One of my favorite inspirational authors, Max Lucado, is offering free an online Bible study based on his book, “Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a Chaotic World.” I’d highly recommend using this resource with your family, among your peers, or even as the start of a digital LIFEgroup.

We were having a great conversation with our YG leaders and I had to explain that the title “Anxious for Nothing” was not diminishing the real anxiety we are experiencing about real things, it was rather religious language derived from a Bible passage shared in the voice of the King James translation:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:6-7 [NKJV]

What fascinating times we live in! Click here to sign up for the online Bible study or click the above icon.

AN INVITATION FROM AUTHOR LOUIE GIGLIO
I want to encourage you to walk through my devotional, Putting an "X" Through Anxiety.

Anxiety is a powerful giant that would like you to believe your life will never be normal again. But when we set our eyes on someone bigger and more powerful - Jesus, our giant slayer - we can find freedom.

If anxiety, worry, fear, or depression is the dread hanging over your life in these unprecedented days - I want to invite you to take a journey with me into the valley where these giants loom large - threatening, taunting, intimidating, incapacitating, and paralyzing us with threats of doom and demise.

I know this giant well, and have suffered from this valley in years past. Yet, I also know there is a way to overcome anxiety. I know firsthand that you can emerge on the other side of the depression and live to tell about someone who has already won the war.

If we're going to win, it is imperative for you and your circle to know that you are not standing helplessly alone in your valley. God Almighty is with us and He is fighting for us. In fact, He's already taken on every "goliath" and won!

Join me on this journey as we set our gaze on Jesus. We won't ignore that a behemoth called anxiety has its foot on our neck, but we will choose to lift our eyes and see someone bigger and more powerful - someone who loves us and plans to lead us back into the light. Click the above icon or here to join Louie’s devotional.

THE DRAKES!
Such a delight to celebrate Mike and Ashley Drake as they exchanged vows last weekend. Praying for their continued bliss and every blessing!

DR. TOM GROVE APPOINTED TEXAS CONFERENCE ASSOCIATE MINISTERIAL DIRECTOR
Congratulations to Pastor Tom in his new capacity in our conference as Associate Ministerial Director! He shares these sentiments on his behalf and the family:

“I am excited to share that I will begin a new chapter of ministry on January 1, 2022. After serving 10 ½ years at the Arlington Adventist Church, I am transitioning to work at the Texas Conference as Associate Director of Ministry & Evangelism. I will support pastors and facilitating creative evangelism throughout the Texas Conference. For me, it is an exciting new opportunity and I look forward to working with Nathan L Krause and Sheri Denny, as well as the rest of the Texas Conference team.

The beauty of this transition is that Deborah, the kids and I will not have to move, the kids will stay at Burton and we will still be a part of the Arlington Church, which I will attend when my schedule permits.

I firmly believe that God has been preparing me for this new opportunity and am excited for what the future holds.”

We’re praying for your every success and thankful for your pastoral ministry to our church!
