Activate the Church

MAY 06, 2025 VOL.6 NO.18

“May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I know how real and heavy the battle of our minds can be. Whether you’re walking through a hard season yourself or carrying the burden for someone you love, you’re not alone. Together with my team, we have created a simple, four-week Scripture journey to help us navigate some of the top mental health battles people face today: anxiety, fear, depression, and worry.

Each week of the month, I’ll send you a short video and guided prayers rooted in Scripture for the week that you can print and keep with you. My prayer is that this helps create a gentle rhythm to pause, breathe, and pray over whatever you might be facing. Whether you’re interceding for your own heart, for a friend, or for anyone who may be struggling right now, I hope these weekly moments will draw you deeper into the loving and healing arms of your Heavenly Father. This week, we’ll start by calling on God for those battling anxiety.” —Louie Giglio

PASSION WEEK: RESURRECTION

1-3 At the crack of dawn on Sunday, the women came to the tomb carrying the burial spices they had prepared. They found the entrance stone rolled back from the tomb, so they walked in. But once inside, they couldn’t find the body of the Master Jesus.

4-8 They were puzzled, wondering what to make of this. Then, out of nowhere it seemed, two men, light cascading over them, stood there. The women were awestruck and bowed down in worship. The men said, “Why are you looking for the Living One in a cemetery? He is not here, but raised up. Remember how he told you when you were still back in Galilee that he had to be handed over to sinners, be killed on a cross, and in three days rise up?” Then they remembered Jesus’ words.

9-11 They left the tomb and broke the news of all this to the Eleven and the rest. Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them kept telling these things to the apostles, but the apostles didn’t believe a word of it, thought they were making it all up.

12 But Peter jumped to his feet and ran to the tomb. He stooped to look in and saw a few grave clothes, that’s all. He walked away puzzled, shaking his head.
—Luke 24:1-12 [Message]

PASSION WEEK: HOSANNA

And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”

And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”

So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
—Matthew 21:8-11 [NKJV]

EXPERIENCE COMMUNITY

HEY TEXAS CONFERENCE YOUNG ADULTS!
I know we have been close to silent on our social media platforms since our Young Adult Retreat in July. Rest assured, though we haven’t been as active on our social media outlets, we have been actively building a foundation for our department to stand on going forward.

We learned so much from so many of you (thank you for sharing your hearts with us!). We have taken your feedback, prayed over it, sought the Lord’s will with the information He entrusted to us, and began to work toward the initiatives we are getting ready to launch in the coming weeks!

In addition to our initiative launch, we also want to share our new logo with you. We chose a flame at the center of our logo because at the heart of the conversations we have had was a thirst to know God more, a yearning for that knowledge to start a “fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control,” and the desire for the warmth of safe communities that foster connection to God and man.

We pray that the initiatives we share with you “scratches where it itches” and meets the needs of our Young Adults across the state! Pray for us as well as we begin to develop a network for Young Adult Ministries, think tanks to keep our perspectives fresh, and more. Looking forward to seeing His plans for us unfold!

Meeting you in prayer,
Pastor Olga Falakiseni

INSPIRE HOPE // SHARE GRACE

See the world. Experience God. Fulfill your mission.

Office of Volunteer Ministries, North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists

Our mission: To connect North American volunteers to mission opportunities that effectively meet the needs of people and communities across North America and around the world.

Inspired by Jesus' Gospel commission in Matthew 28:19, our vision is to promote and facilitate volunteer service as a way to reach North America and the world with the distinctive, Christ-centered, Seventh-day Adventist message of hope and wholeness.

HeSaidGo.org is the website and platform used by the North American Division Office of Volunteer Ministries to promote and process long-term volunteer service opportunities and volunteer applications within our division and around the world. It is also a place to pre-register your short-term mission trips to access the support and resources of the North American Division in case of crisis or emergency.

TEXAS CONFERENCE YOUNG ADULT UPDATE
We appreciate the opportunity to share our vision and initiatives with you. Just wanted to follow up with more details on the information we need from your churches and area to move forward.

YOUNG ADULT NETWORK
We are wanting to create a network of Young Adult leaders throughout our Conference. We are asking that all of our churches select a Young Adult Leader(s) (this can be anyone of any age who is passionate about young people deepening their relationship with Jesus) and assign an Elder to be a support/mentor to this Leader. Once these leaders are selected, please send the following details to olgafalakiseni@txsda.org so that we can begin supporting and pouring into these leaders:

First & Last Names
Email
Cell Phone
Church Membership

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY TOUR
At our area meeting we shared our YAM Tour initiative that will be hosted in 7 locations between July 2025 – July 2026. Our launch and end of the tour will be at the annual Young Adult Retreat held at Lake Whitney Ranch. Once we launch, we will begin the 7 stop tour that include:

DALLAS
KEENE/FORT WORTH
HOUSTON
EAST TEXAS
CENTRAL TEXAS
SAN ANTONIO
VALLEY

DATES: We are still needing the dates and locations for each area. For the dates, we ask that you avoid choosing the 2nd Sabbath of the month in 2026, as well as the months of May 2026, June 2026, and July 2026. Dates are reserved at a first come, first served basis. AUGUST 15/16, 2025, is reserved for CENTRAL TEXAS, location TBD. October 10/11 is for sure available if anyone is open to those dates.

LOCATIONS: After further communication with our communications department, we recognize that it would be best for us to host our events at a gym, hall, or school. This will give them the ability to set up our sound/visual needs with no issue. If your area does not have a location that fits that description, please let me know and we can try to work something out. In addition, we will need 5 rooms/meeting spaces for our Team Huddle meetings, a place where we can serve food and eat our meal, and central to the area if possible.

I have also attached a document to this email that has the template of the programming we are leaning towards and some potential topics we are brainstorming through. All information on there is subject to change, but the format of the program is pretty set in stone. It is just extra information to help you gauge the weekend.

We kindly ask that you have your selected area dates & location, as well as your church YA Leader(s)/Elder information submitted to us. We thank you for your cooperation and support in building Young Adult Ministries in Texas.

Sincerely,
Olga Falakiseni
Associate Youth & Young Adult Director
Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventist
