DOMINICAN REPUBLIC MISSION TRIP 2023 // INFO ZOOM MEETING // SEP 27 6:30PM
We are excited to announce the return of the joint Burton Academy & Arlington Adventist Church mission trip. On March 12-23, 2023, we will be traveling to the Dominican Republic to build a church in Santo Domingo while also holding VBS and medical clinics for the community during the week. The Arlington Church community and the Burton School community are all invited to participate. Lock in your trip price at $1,850.00, by officially committing by October 1, 2022.

YG SPEAKER: CHAPLAIN EDDY DARISME
Pastor Eddy Darisme is the guest speaker for Burton Adventist Academy’s Week of Prayer. He serves as the campus chaplain for Auburn Adventist Academy in Auburn, Washington. Eddy brings a unique perspective to his ministry gained from his experience as a hospital chaplain and youth specialist for a juvenile detention center. Down to earth and practical, Eddy loves to empower young leaders and help them recognize their value and potential.
Eddy earned his Batchelor of Arts degree with a major in theology from Walla Walla University and his Master of Divinity from the Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. He is currently working on a doctorate in Community Care and Counseling through Liberty University. He is married to his beautiful wife, Natalie Darisme, who serves as a pastor in the Washington Conference. Together they care for two neighborhood cats that frequent their home for food and cuddles.

foundation is a brand new @ygchurch Bible study. we are so excited to spend time together studying the Word of God on Sabbath afternoons.
Are you looking for something more? I know I am. Since it’s beginning, the church has been a place for believers to gather and grow together and I’m very excited to tell you about a new opportunity to do that outside of Sabbath morning.
@ygchurch is starting a new Sabbath afternoon Bible study for young adults: foundation. The meaning behind the name is simple: we want Christ to be the foundation of our lives. Our mission is to grow spiritually through a deeper understanding of scripture and to fellowship with each other. This is an interactive discussion-based study going over what we believe as Adventist Christians. We will be looking at key verses and asking questions, discussing and learning what it means to be a young adult on fire for Christ.
Our next meeting will be in a new location: Revive Community Care Center. Potluck lunch at 1 and we will start our study at 2.

FAMILY SYSTEMS SEMINAR: ADDICTION AND THE FAMILY // OCT 8, 2:30PM // ROOM 7
When a family member is experiencing a mental, behavioral or substance use disorder it can affect more than just the person in need of recovery. You are invited to participate in a presentation on navigating the challenges, emotions, and recovery from all types of addiction that impact the family. The seminar will be presented by Michal Anne Whitcomb, MA, LPC & Doug Dougherty, M.Ed, LPC from the Dallas Counseling Group.
Join us for a free lunch in the fellowship hall after the Mosaic service, followed by the seminar at 2:30 p.m., on October 8, 2022 in room 7.
KARL HAFFNER, PHD FEATURED FOR SPEAKER SERIES AT ARLINGTON // OCTOBER 14 & 15
Karl Haffner, PhD, serves as Loma Linda University’s vice president for student experience, overseeing recruiting and student activities on campus for the university’s eight professional schools.
A featured speaker worldwide at corporate events, healthcare conferences and graduations, Haffner is an experienced leadership expert who has previously served as mission strategist for the Kettering Health Network. He has also served as senior pastor of the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church, and has previously served in senior pastor roles in Washington state, including senior pastor of Walla Walla University Church from 1997 to 2007. He has authored 13 books and more than 1,000 articles for various denominational publications.
Haffner holds a doctorate from the School of Education at Andrews University, an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University, a Master of Divinity from Andrews University, and bachelor’s degrees in business and theology from Walla Walla University.
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Haffner will be the presenter for this year's Speaker Series at Arlington on October 14 and 15, 2022. He will present messages taken from the book of John on Friday evening, for all services on Sabbath morning, and also a message to close the Sabbath before Shindig.

ADVENTIST YOUNG PROFESSIONALS FEATURED ON ADVENTIST MEDIA
Adventist Young Professionals’ (AYP) founder and president, Tim Kosaka, was recently interviewed on Mission 360˚ TV, a production of Adventist Mission, that takes viewers inside the mission stories to explore the lives of missionaries and people serving God all over the world.
During his conversation, Kosaka discussed how AYP started and how it's grown to a global community. He explored the burden God placed on his heart to start this organization, how AYP grew from a social media page to a global community, and the vision and plans for AYP’s future.
As a ministry that fosters Christ-centered community through faith development, authentic connections, and ministry engagement. AYP actively impacts a community of over 6,000 young adults through its online community, local chapters, and virtual groups. ”This name was inspired by the concept of Christ being our One True Sure Foundation. (Isaiah 28:16 “So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic.”)
Personally, this concept stands out to me because there are so many things that society tells young people to rely on: appearances, wealth, education, social media, etc. Even within the church, our focus can be on other things, which are important as well, but I believe it’s time we go back to weightier matters. 2 Peter 1:3 says “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” There are so many young adults trying to live a Godly life without the right tools! Many of us think we have to invent our own or use what the world tells us. He has given them all to us. One prominent way He does this is through the word.” —Dani
